Surveillance system alarm in ATM foils theft attempted

However, the surveillance system alarm rang as the thief fiddled with the vault after opening machines front panel using a server driver since the vault can be opened only by as secret code.

A staffer of the bank's monitoring system at the control room was alerted by the alarm he spotted a man inside the ATM KIOSK

The Rabale MIDC police was informed about the theft attempt, but the thief had run away by the time the cops rushed to the spot.

Acting on a complaint by Sagar Kadam (29) the ATM officer (field executive), the Rabale MIDC police has registered an FIR under Section 380 and 511 of the IPC.

Senior inspector Nitin Gite said "The incident occurred between 3:14 am and 3:16 am as seen in the CCTV footage at the ATM kiosk. The thief partially covering his face with a clothed opened the ATM machine's front panel using a screwdriver and started fiddling with the cash vault. as he attempted to removed the vault using screw driver, the surveillance system alarm got triggered and the alarm siren rang."

The thief panicked and ran away. The staff of bank's monitoring system at the control room was alerted by the alarm and he checked the CCTV footage and spotted a man inside the ATM kiosk who had opened the machine's panel, said Gite

The staff immediately in formed the ATM officer Kadam, who directed him to inform the local police.

Upon receiving the information at the Rabale MIDC police station, the on duty cops rushed to the spot. But the the thief had escaped but them but without laying his hands on the ATM cash, as the alarm had scared him away.

The thief was aged 25-30 years and wearing as white shirt and black bermuda shorts. He had covered his face with cloth and hence he could not be identified, He seems to be local youth and will be nabbed soon."
